NEW BRAUNFELS, TXFor the second year in a row, the Wurstfest Association, in partnership with the New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department, will present Kinderhalle at the Landa Recreation Center during Wurstfest. The Kinderhalle Parents Night Out takes place from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Nov. 1 and Nov. 8.

Families will be able to enjoy special entertainment during the week beginning with the headliner, Trout Fishing in America, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. More entertainment is lined up from 7 to 8 p.m. daily Nov. 3-5.

Wurstfest takes place Oct. 31 through Nov. 9.

For the Parents Night Out during both Saturdays of Wurstfest, parents can drop off their children ages 5-12 at the Kinderhalle for a host of Wurstfest-related activities. Cost is $12 for each night. Parents can register their children by calling (830) 221-4370. They can also register from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Payment can be made by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard.

“Children can expect to have a ton of fun,” says Evan Partee, recreation supervisor with the New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department. “We will have a jump castle, a blow-up movie screen and lots of games and activities for the children to enjoy.”

In addition to Parents Night Out, Kinderhalle also will feature family entertainment during the week beginning at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 with Trout Fishing in America. 

“Children and parents alike will be entranced by the creative lyrics and whimsical rhythms offered by this award-winning pair,” Partee says. “Trout Fishing in America’s music is thoughtful and fun.”

With songs such as “My Hair Had a Party Last Night” and “I’ve Got a Friend (And He Won’t Be Quiet),” the audience is sure to be entertained.

Nov. 3 will feature Mr. Puppet (Bob Abdou), professional ventriloquist, puppeteer, humorist and educator. Nov. 4 features popular ventriloquist Ian Varella, and Nov. 5 features John Maverick, master of magic. The performer events are free of charge and are included in Wurstfest admission.

The Wurstfest Association of New Braunfels is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to promote the local economy through tourism and promote and preserve the community’s rich German heritage. Proceeds from the event benefit a wide variety of projects.

Admission to the Wurstfest grounds will be free from 4 to 7 p.m. on opening night, Oct. 31. After that, admission to the festival is $8 at the gate; and children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free at all times.
