My first venture into being a Wurstfest vendor was in 1967 when the festival moved from downtown to Landa Park. We were all selling from inside tents and trying to stay dry during the rainy week. At that time my sales items consisted of handmade crafts. Later, it evolved into the first hat booth. Now I sell all types of headwear: traditional hats, novelty hats for children and adults, headbands, and handcrafted floral garlands.

Kuckucksnest is an authentic German Imports store in the heart of the hill country. Just 3 miles from the Main Street of Fredericksburg, Texas you’ll find our 6,000 square foot building packed with dirndls, lederhosen, hats, cuckoo clocks, food, nutcrackers, pyramids, and much more! Paula Kager, along with her late husband, Bob Kager, began bringing items from Germany for their friends and family each time they visited, and over time this tradition grew into a business that brings nostalgic German items to all of the hill country. They began to exhibit in festivals, and now the Kuckucksnest has been exhibiting in Wurstfest for over 20 years! You may have seen Paula on the Texas Hill Country Reporter, at Wurstfest over the years, or if you’ve ever gotten to stop by the shop. Once upon a time in 2003, Dawn Drake Clarke, the company’s Founder and CEO had a vision for Sweet & Sassy®. Dawn observed that no one was meeting the need for exceptional customer service in the children’s hair industry. She took her own two children to a local children’s salon chain and found the waiting area to be dirty, the staff unpleasant, and no receptionist on hand to help with booking appointments. In addition, the haircuts themselves were low-quality. This is when she knew she could do better – much better. Over TWENTY years later, Sweet & Sassy has become a trusted, cutting-edge children’s salon, trend-setting retail store and the perfect celebration place! Customers enjoy top-quality services including haircuts, braids, manicures, pedicures, ear piercing, glam packages, and a selection of signature birthday parties to pamper guests ages 4-12. Large groups (scouts, churches, schools/daycares) and individual clients are all treated like royalty. This is our very FIRST Wurstfest so please give us a sparkly welcome! The New Braunfels High School Band Booster Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the NBHS band and its students. Participating as a vendor at Wursftest is our largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from this fundraiser allow us to pay for the writing and choreography of our competitive marching show, marching uniforms, meals for games and competitions, and scholarships for students in need as well as end of year merit scholarships for college. At Wurstfest, the NBHS Band Boosters sell the official Wurstfest hat pin, official Wurstfest branded merchandise such as pitcher koozies, cup koozies, t-shirts, Christmas ornaments, bottle openers, and much more!
